Davis Period had a packed fall quarter so far. Wondering what your favorite period-themed club has been up to? Here are a of couple events we’re excited to share!
Involvement Fair
You might have caught our members tabling on the quad for the Involvement Fair, where new and returning students could explore the many organizations Davis has to offer. Davis Period shared our message of menstrual equity and promoted our upcoming General Meeting. So many people stopped by to see our newly decorated sign, which includes our mission statement and fun facts about menstruation. Our officers had so much fun talking to students about our goals, including reliable access to menstrual products on campus.

Planet Her
Last Friday, Davis celebrated the UN International Day of the Girl with Planet Her, an event highlighting girlhood, womanhood, and female achievement. This event was co-organized by the office of ASUCD Senator Dani Antonio, Students for Reproductive Freedom (represented by Davis Period Editor-in-Chief Annabel Marshall), and ASUCD’s Gender and Sexuality Commission (GASC).
Attendees enjoyed freshly made food from the MU Coffee House, immersed in a galactic theme. Performances included wonderful student groups like Davis dance troupe AfroVibes and The Spokes, an all-female a capella group. Off-stage, resource booths showcased the variety of communities available to women and nonbinary students on campus, from Davis Women in Business to the women’s rugby team.
Davis Period was very happy to be invited to table at the event along with other amazing organizations. Knowing that menstruation and womanhood have long been tied, we loved speaking to everyone about the importance of intersectional, accessible, and shame-free period care. Our table asked people to describe their period in one word to showcase the diversity of experiences for those who menstruate. We also gave away tons of free sustainable menstruation products! President Ellyn Paris said, “I had such a great time meeting students and having good conversations about menstrual equity on campus!”

We have lots more wonderful events and opportunities planned, so stick around. See you soon!
